IATM Orlando Convention 2006

Theophostic Prayer Ministry 2006 International Convention

Calvary Assembly, Orlando, Florida, November 2-4, 2006

Report written by Tina Irwin

"Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance and the ends of the earth for Your possession" Psalm 2:8.

The International Convention of Theophostic Prayer Ministry was held November 2-4, 2006, at Calvary Assembly in Orlando, Florida.  And, it was a gathering of the nations!  It was an evidential inheritance, in the now, of nations uniting together in the authority, power and strength of Jesus' name.

TPM facilitation is now taking place in over 130+ countries.  Gathered in the assembly of this convention were people from many races and tongues, from all around the globe, worshiping and magnifying the Lord for what He is doing in and through the ministry they offer to emotionally hurting people.  No matter where you go in the world, though the culture is very different, the woundedness is the same.
The good news is the Lord is restoring lives through this ministry in all the earth.

The Thursday evening opening session included a "march of the nations" with a parade of flags representing the breath and far outreaching influence of Theophostic Prayer Ministry around the globe. There were flags draped all across the balcony, in the foyer   and other places making it very evident that this is indeed a world wide effort.

Flag bearers were randomly seated throughout the auditorium.  On musical cue, they stood and began proceeding toward the front of the room.  The sight was breathtaking.  The purpose of the march was an offering of praise and worship to the True and Living Lord Jesus Christ and all that He is doing around the world through this ministry!
The general assembly keynote speakers included Dr. Tim Clinton, President of the American Association of Christian Counselors, Rev. Skip Alexander, pastor of the Campbellsville Baptist Church in Kentucky, and Rev. Jeff Eaton, pastor of New Hope Community Church in Lawrenceberg, Kentucky.  Both Skip and Jeff are former pastors of Dr. Ed Smith.

The general session Friday morning featured Dr. Tim Clinton, President of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).  Dr. Clinton introduced his new book "Turn Your Life Around" and presented an attention-getting review of the chapters.  Dr. Clinton is leading the AACC in a very positive direction today and needs the prayer support from the TPM community.  Lets remember to lift him up before the Lord.

Rev. Skip Alexander, a former pastor of Dr. Ed Smith and personal friend, shared a refreshing look at the beatitudes and how they relate to the ministry process.

Rev. Jeff Eaton, also a Kentucky pastor and personal friend of Dr. Ed, shared a straight forward and challenging message that encouraged the group to press with the Good News of Christ and the hope of retoration.

Dr. Ed Smith spoke four times during the convention sharing his latest insights in TPM.  He also provided two live demonstrations modeling the TPM approach.  Those who were present commented on how much the process has been refined since the last convention as they watched him do ministry.  All were encouraged to update their training and obtain the latest editions to the teaching.

The Christian comedy team of Randy and Monica Zachary highlighted each session with a zany, but, sensitive touch of humor portraying a couple new to TPM attending their first convention!  In the final skit, Randy ditched denial and began to realize his own personal need for healing, renewal and transformation.

The praise and worship was awesome in every way.  Bill Renn co-led the worship along with Rick Jacobs and the Riverside Choir from Ft. Myers, Riverside (Baptist) Church.  Arthur Hallet (North America Director of Evangelism Explosion) shared his musical gifts through song and flute throughout the convention.  Bobby Baldwin of Bowling Green, Kentucky lit the stage with sounds that an electric gutair was probably never meant to do... it was awesome!

For the 2,000-plus who attended the convention, it was a time of renewed personal commitment.  It was also an opportunity for greeting friends and making new ones.  It was a time to recognize the expansion of TPM and to be made aware of the value of life with Jesus that this ministry brings to the Body of Christ.  It was amazing to
behold  such a large group of individuals with vast theological perspectives, all come together with great unity and fervor making Christ the central focus in a common ministry.

Thank you to every attendee, Calvary Assembly, TPM staff and volunteers.  To God be the glory.  Great things He has done!

See you at the next convention!
